Mercedes boss confirms electric G-Class for 2024: the future of luxury SUVs.

Mercedes boss confirms electric G-Class for 2024.

Dieter Zetsche, head of Mercedes-Benz, confirmed that an electric version of the G-Class SUV is in the works and will be available by 2024. The news comes as a surprise as the G-Class has been known for its gas-guzzling ways, but with new emissions regulations coming into effect, it seems Mercedes is finally ready to make the switch to electric.
This isn't the first time we've seen an electric SUV from Mercedes, as the company already offers the EQC model. However, that SUV is based on the GLC platform and is significantly smaller than the G-Class. The electric G-Class will be based on the same platform as the current gas-powered model, meaning it will be just as big and just as luxurious.

When will the electric G-Class be released?

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been around since 1979 and is currently in its second generation. The SUV is known for its boxy design, off-road capabilities, and luxury features. Mercedes has announced that an electric version of the G-Class will be released in 2024.
Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG (the parent company of Mercedes-Benz), confirmed that an electric G-Class is in the works and will be released in 2024. He said that the decision to go electric was made in order to meet future emissions regulations. The electric G-Class will have a range of up to 500 km (311 miles) on a single charge.

Why is Mercedes making an electric G-Class?

As the world increasingly turns to electric vehicles, even luxury carmakers are being forced to make the switch. Mercedes is no exception, and plans to release an electric version of their popular G-Class SUV by 2024.
The decision to electrify the G-Class was not an easy one for Mercedes, as the SUV is known for its off-roading capabilities. However, with advances in battery technology, the company believes that an electric G-Class will be just as
capable as its gasoline-powered counterpart.
While some purists may be disappointed by the loss of the iconic engine noise, there are many benefits to an electric G-Class. For one, it will be much more efficient than its predecessor, and will have a significantly shorter recharge time.
What remains to be seen is how well the electric G-Class will perform in off-road situations.

How will the electric G-Class be different from the current model?

The current G-Class is powered up to a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine, but the electric version will have two electric motors – one at the front and one at the rear.
This set-up will give the electric G-Class all-wheel drive, and Mercedes says it will have "significant" off-road capability.
The battery pack will be located under the floor, helping to keep the centre of gravity low and improve handling.
Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche has confirmed that an electric G-Class is in the works and will be released in 2024. This comes as no surprise as Mercedes has been working on electric vehicles for some time now. The G-Class is one of the most iconic vehicles in the Mercedes lineup, and an electric version would be a welcome addition.
Zetsche did not give any specifics about the electric G-Class, but he did say that it would be based on the current model. This means that we can expect it to have similar styling to the current G-Class, but with a few electric touches. It's also likely that the electric G-Class will have a longer range than the current model, as electric cars are known for their excellent range.
